Lifting Weights Make Women Bulky: Myth Debunked!

“I want a toned body, but I don’t want to look like a man!”
“I know that squats are good for me, but will I develop thunder thighs?”

So we’ve heard many times from women that they’re afraid of becoming more masculine if they lift weights. Here’s the thing, lifting weights/resistance training WON’T make you bulky. Instead, it’ll give you a strong and well-sculpted body. Women don’t have the same hormone balance and body requirements needed to build larger, bulkier muscles like men do. An adequate nutrition and workout plan will be enough to get you in shape.

In order to get lean, you need to be lifting moderate/slightly heavier weights that will challenge you. If your weights are too light, it makes no difference to your body. Don’t be afraid to go heavy (subjected to every individual, of course), but keep your form in check.

Lifting moderate/heavy weights within a short period encourages fat-burn, which is why we would usually push our regular women in our Hotbod Conditioning classes to use the heavier weights (you know who you are).

Having a ‘toned’ body actually means that you have a larger percentage of lean muscles and a lower percentage of body fat.

HotBod Conditioning (HB)

We’ve been asked many times about what our HB program exactly is. To put it simply, Hotbod integrates 3 major methods of training : HIIT, Strength Training and Circuit-Training. It’s a 3 in 1 Fitness-Conditioning Program that is specially catered for women to combat our ‘problem areas’, with a perfect fusion of both cardiovascular and conditioning exercises. Our HB sessions are multi-levelled, suitable for both beginners and seasoned athletes.
